Sewing Ministry

Sewing for Charity

The Sewing for Charity group met May 4, to continue sewing on the Fidget Quilts and to stuff more arm pillows.  We only had 6 ladies in attendance, but we did get a lot accomplished.  Near the end of our sewing time we had a special visitor come, which delighted all of us.  Baby Jack Forsythe smiled, grinned and let several of us hold him.  We really appreciated David and Lainie sharing him with us.

We will not meet in June, because of our involvement in hosting CPWM Convention.  Our next sewing day will be July 6.  We look forward to getting more done on the projects we have going.

A big thank you to all who have participated in our sewing days.  Marcia recently turned in 63 arm pillows to be distributed to breast cancer patients.

Our last sew day was a big success!  We met on March 23, and nine ladies came and were ready to work.  We have now completed nine Fidget Quilts and hope to finish eleven more the next time we sew.  We will soon be able to take these to a Memory Care Unit for Alzheimer’s patients to enjoy.
Forty arm pillows for breast cancer patients were stuffed and nineteen were totally completed leaving twenty-one being ready to have the opening stitched together, which we will complete at our next meeting.  We’re hoping to get a couple of projects completed so we can begin sewing new projects.
Our next day to sew is April 6, from 9:00 a.m. till 12:00 noon.  We invite everyone to come and join in our fun and camaraderie.  We always have a good time and there is a job for everyone.

March Meeting

The Sewing for Charity met on February 2, with nine ladies sewing, stuff pillows and cut out more items to be sewn.  We had a great time and a lot was accomplished.  We also planned a strategy to get more of the Fidget Quilts assembled.  Some of the ladies took blocks and supplies home and will bring them back on March 9, when we are scheduled to meet again.

Several ladies expressed a desire to spend more actual time sewing, so we will meet at 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon.  This just means that the I will be there at 9:00 a.m. and if anyone wants to come early they may do so.  Of course, those that want to arrive at 10:00 a.m. may continue to come at that time.  We have several projects in various stages of being completed and need to get those finished to be able to present them.  We need several ladies who are willing to sew to be able to accomplish this, so I urge all sewers to come as well as those who can stuff and cut.  Many have stated that this ministry is a blessing and I encourage you to come and be a part of our group.  We always have a good time!
